Our Story
The name "Thenkadal" (Southern Sea) reflects our roots in the Gulf of Mannar region. Rameshwaram, being an island, has always been the heart of Tamil Nadu's fishing industry. Our journey began small—as a family of fishermen who believed that the traditional sun-drying process was disappearing in the wave of industrial chemical-heavy production.
We decided to take a stand. We returned to the basics: hand-cleaning fish with seawater, using precise amounts of sea salt, and letting the tropical sun do its magic. This results in karuvadu that isn't just salty, but bursts with the natural "umami" flavor of the sea.
Today, Thenkadal Karuvadu is a name trusted by thousands across Tamil Nadu for purity, hygiene, and authentic taste.
